Whats new in V5.2.5.0?



NetRescue strives to give you the most stable and feature rich software
that we can. To that end, we are pleased to be able to upgrade our
servers, and your client software with the additional features and minor
bug fixes as listed below.


This is a recommended upgrade for all users. To upgrade your software,
simply visit our downloads page, download the version of software that
matches your operating system, and when run it when the download
completes. The Online Backup Manager (OBM) on your computer will
be upgraded, and all files and settings will be retained.



New Feature - Offline Backups - Added option to run a backup a set amount of time after your last backup. Useful if your computer is off when a scheduled backup is supposed to run, as a backup can now run automatically when your computer is turned back on.


Integration with other applications

New feature - Confirmed to backup Lotus 8 (32-bit) correctly

Enhancement - Replaced LinuxUtil with NixUtil to support AhsayOBM running on Linux PPC

Enhancement - Added the support of Personal Oracle or Oracle running on Windows XP

Enhancement - Removed the "Function only supported for transaction logged databases" error message when restoring non-loggged databases to stop raising false alarm

Enhancement - Displaying a warning message on the backup report when the backup source does not exist. (TTT-786482)

Enhancement - AhsayOBM is now compatible with ShadowProtect Server Edition (QMZ-177970)

Bug fixed - Fixed the problem of backing up Notes.ini again when listing backup files to avoid getting "Permission denied" error.

Bug fixed - Fixed the problem of backing up notes.ini again when listing databases to avoid getting "Cannot open destination file: /???/notes.ini.YYYY-MM-DD-HH-MM-SS-000.ADD. Reason: Permission denied"

Bug fixed - Fixed the problem of getting "The parameter is incorrect" when backup files on a network drive. (VTT-967318)

Bug fixed - Fixed the problem of backup being stopped when OBM is not able to find a file on Mac Machine.

Bug fixed - Fixed the problem of getting "Cannot spool mail file: xxxx" when backing up non-recoverable database file in Lotus Domino on Linux.

New Feature - Support backup of SELinux settings of each file

Enhancement - File permissions are now backed up correctly on Solaris and BSD systems

Enhancement - NixUtil uses ISO_8859_1 character encoding for filename with incorrect character set information to enhance compatibility

Enhancement - Backup of Mac resource fork file no longer requires a temporary dump file

Enhancement - When scheduled backup are not supposed to run on a computer, disable the logout reminder as well. (ref: ZMV-671086, KNM-769764)

Enhancement - Speed up in-file delta block generation for file size that is slightly (within 100 bytes) larger than a multiple of in-file delta block size (ref: 2053)

Bug fixed - Logout reminder now working fully under Vista

Bug fixed - Fixed the problem of NTFS permission not being backed up for files that administrator has no read access to

Bug fixed - Fixed the problem of skipping updating file permissions when unable to read from system, with a "warn" type log entry like this: '[2007/10/25 11:03:29] [warn] Path "D:\Temp\user_guide.pdf" cannot get File Permission. Reason=Access denied.' In order to avoid reporting this message for users do not have the right to read file permissions, a "Backup File Permissions" option is added for skipping reading file permissions.

Bug fixed - Fixed the problem of files being copied over and over again when LocalCopying to a SAMBA mapped drive which doesn't have a highly precised last modified time. (ref: HCH-175680)

For example, if both "D:\Temp\" and "D:\Temp Dir\" are being selected in backup source, files in "D:\Temp Dir\" won't be backed up. (ref: HTV-825944)

Bug - Fixed the problem of backing up mapped drive with non-english characters (ref: RLN-872418)

Bug - Fixed the problem of getting "NullPointerException" when running both manual backup and scheduled backup at the same time (ref: UKP-289313)

Bug - Fixed the problem of local copy files always being treated as moved files in Mac OS X.

Bug - Fixed the problem of not being able to backup files in "C:\" on NetWare, only files in "SYS:" or "VOL:" can be backed up.

Bug - Fixed the problem of command line configurator not setting the "Run scheduled backup on this computer" option correctly.

Bug - Fixed the problem of OBM always using "localhost" as hostname on FreeBSD and Linux
